Who Cheers for the Cheerleader?

I used to ask this question often, who cheers for the cheerleader? You know the one. That person who always seems to have the right words at the right time. The one who shows up with a smile big enough to light the room. The one who lifts others up even when the weight of the world might be pressing down on them. They have a way of bringing warmth on the coldest of days. Their presence sparkles with the stuff of rainbows, unicorns, and glitter. But I sometimes wonder… at what cost?

What happens when the cheerleader is the one in need of encouragement? When their own spirit is weary, but no one thinks to ask? People get so accustomed to their light, they forget to ask if it’s dimming. Because of course, if you ask them how they’re doing, they’ll smile and say, “I’m alright.” But what’s really going on beneath that ever-cheerful exterior?

Are they tired? Lonely? Quietly hurting in a crowd full of people who assume they’re just fine?

Sometimes, the ones who pour into everyone else are running on empty. They’ve mastered the art of giving, but may not often receive. So this is just a gentle reminder: if you see someone who’s always creating joy, take a moment to acknowledge them. Don’t wait until they’re visibly broken to offer kindness. Don’t assume they don’t need it just because they don’t ask.

A kind word. A genuine check-in. A small gesture of appreciation.

Let the cheerleader know they’re seen, they’re valued, and yes, they are deeply appreciated.
